How can we better understand the economic impacts of the clean energy transition? What role do research, innovation and knowledge spillovers play in shaping future growth? And how can macroeconomic models help policymakers navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead?
These questions will take centre stage at the 19th Annual Meeting of the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium (IAMC), taking place on 17–19 November 2026 at the Eugenides Planetarium in Athens, Greece.
As the TWINRD project enters its final phase, the meeting will provide an opportunity to bring its research journey into dialogue with the international integrated assessment modelling community.

Session: Spotlight on ECONOMY + MARKETS – 1
Venue: Eugenides Planetarium, Athens, Greece
Format: In person, with online participation for IAMC registrants
Supported by TWINRD and chaired by Zoi Vontrisi, this session will examine the macroeconomic impacts of clean energy transitions, with particular attention to clean innovation dynamics, knowledge spillovers, financial bottlenecks and distributional impacts.
These themes lie at the heart of TWINRD’s research. Throughout the project, the consortium has worked to improve how macroeconomic models represent Research & Innovation, green and digital technologies, and their wider economic and societal effects.
By developing new datasets, refining established modelling frameworks such as GEM-E3 and NEMESIS, and advancing a new open-source modelling approach, TWINRD aims to strengthen the evidence base for assessing R&I policies and their contribution to the Twin Transition.
Connecting TWINRD with the modelling community
The IAMC Annual Meeting provides an ideal setting to place these advances within a broader scientific discussion on the connections between innovation, energy transition and economic transformation.
For TWINRD, this occasion represents an important final-stage opportunity to exchange knowledge, connect with researchers working on complementary approaches and reflect on the project’s contribution to more comprehensive and policy-relevant macroeconomic modelling.
